This is the first vintage of Monastrell from our Sheldon Hills Vineyard and the change is  note worthy!  The terroir is Redding Gravelly Clay Loam and the Sloughhouse AVA gets warmer evenings which create a bigger, bolder Monastrell. This wine is super dark and full of earthy aromas, oiled leather and white pepper. It has gripping tannins with a full bodied    texture ending with a bright acidity. Flavors of ripe fresh blackberry, Santa Rosa plum, and chocolate covered coffee beans end with hints of licorice. Liz suggests you pair this wine with    espresso rubbed filet mignon and wild mushroom sauce.

Every year we look forward to the surprise of our winemaker’s special blend. Our 2016 Trencadis red blend has a ruby red color similar to our Tempranillo. It has an amazing combination of aromas...strawberry syrup, plum skin, sassafras, raspberry jam, white pepper, Jasmin and fresh fennel.. Juicy, full flavors of pomegranate juice, cranberry and raspberry sorbet combine with soft, dusty tannins and lead to a long lingering finish. This beautifully balanced wine is a testament to the art of blending  flavors and textures. Liz suggests pairing this wine with raspberry Balsamic glazed chicken.

If diamonds were red...that is what the brilliant red color of this incredible 2016 Garnacha would be! Beautiful aromas of homemade strawberry jam, apple peel and orange zest mix   together with hints of clove and vanilla bean. It is intense, structured and juicy with a non-linear, full-mouthfeel experience that doesn’t disappoint. Mouth watering flavors of cranberry, strawberry Life Savers, lychee and bittersweet chocolate are followed up by a hint of rose petal. This wine has medium tannins, an unctuous mouthfeel and a long finish.  Liz suggests pairing this with cherry glazed baby back ribs.

Our Estate grown Graciano is from our “motherblock” Spanish varietal collection. The inky dark color gives an indication of what is to come. It has bold fragrances of blackberry pie, plum juice, anise, and Earl Grey black tea with Bergamot citrus. It is silky, smooth and soft on the palate with a magical touch of acidity.  Flavors of blueberry compote, black licorice, dark Mexican chocolate and hints of herb infused Spanish style vermouth lead to the long, soft finish. Liz suggests pairing with blueberry balsamic pork tenderloin.

Our 2017 Albariño is a gorgeous pale straw color. This wine is always a winner and you will enjoy once again the classic aromas of citrus, orange slices, ripe peach skins, mandarin, pink grapefruit , orange blossoms and green papaya. The natural acidity is balanced by the delicious flavors of grapefruit juice, lemon curd, Meyer lemon and a briny finish which remind us of the classic Albariños of Galicia. It is light to medium bodied with a long finish. Liz suggests pairing this with spicy Thai food with basil or seared ahi with wasabi allioli.

Our 2016 vintage is our fourth year producing a Malbec. This multi-layered wine has a deep dark purple hue to it. Opens up with aromas of blackberry, dried thyme, pumpernickel bread, fig and dusty earth. It graces the palate with blackberry juice, smoky blueberry, toasted vanilla with a savory briny conclusion. It finishes long and smooth with dry weighty tannins.

Our 2015 Garnacha has the brilliant red hue of gemstones. This vineyard never fails to produce an amazingly aromatic red with such a delicate color that is a tickly tease. Notes of ripe strawberry, raspberry and cherry candy mix together with a spicy blend of anise, clove and nutmeg. The well-balanced bright acidity add to the pomegranate-like tannins and flavors of cranberry sauce, watermelon and mango. This wine has a long finish which ends with a hint of dried vanilla beans. Liz suggests pairing this with a tapa of Spanish Membrillo, Manchego and Jamon Serrano. This Garnacha will definitely be invited to the Bokisch family Thanksgiving dinner!

Buckle up, butter cup! This is the very first release of our lusciously dark and inky Petit Verdot. Its starless night coloring leads into intense aromas of cocoa, cooked plum and earthy fig. It exudes flavor of dark chocolate, dulce de leche, salt water taffy and dried strawberry. Its intense plentiful tannins lead into a silky-smooth lingering finish.

Our 2015 vintage is our third year of producing a Malbec. It has a dark red color with violet hues. Complex aromas of dark cherry, strawberry fruit leather, black licorice and a touch of smoke, combine with wet earth and pine needles. It has plush mouthfeel with luscious and silky tannins and ends with a bright lingering finish. Juicy flavors of blackberry, sweet fruit and savory mince meat pie are followed by a hint of fresh mint. This incredibly unique wine continues to be a staff favorite. Liz suggests pairing this with grilled Teriyaki Chicken skewer-sor duck tacos with Hoisin sauce.

This beautifully balanced old vine zinfandel is our first production from the Süess Vineyard. It is deep red in color and entices the nose with fruity mouthwatering aromas of ripe Santa Rosa plums, Chambord Liqueur, nutmeg, cardamom and hints of sage. Flavors of jammy forest fruit, mango and meaty bacon balance the natural acidity with black pepper spicy notes and a touch of cedar. This wine has a long finish with medium tannins and a trace of new oak. It will continue to age beautifully and it’s great acid will keep it fresh on the palate. Liz recommends paring this with Parisian style steak and “frites” with a black peppercorn white wine sauce.

This is the very first vintage we have featured Terra Alta Vineyard Graciano with a vineyard designation! The violet-blue hue is the first signal that something special awaits in the glass. The aromas hit the nose in full force with forest fruit, blackberry pie, blueberry syrup and black licorice. Flavors of dark Bing cherry, vanilla bean, blueberry and sundried apricots   linger in the mouth. Juicy sweet with a velvet finish, this wine will continue to age beautifully which is why it is often used in the blends of the Rioja region of Spain. Liz suggests pairing this wine with roasted leg of lamb with garlic and rosemary.

This is the first vintage in many years that we have highlighted Liberty Oaks Vineyard as a vineyard designated wine. It proves, once again, why Tempranillo is king of the Spanish reds! Incredible dark fruit aromas of black cherry, blackberry and dark chocolate, end with a tangy hints of dried cranberries and nutmeg. Rich, luscious, juicy dark fruit flavors of blackberry syrup and chocolate covered cherries finish with a lingering notes of mulling spices, cinnamon, and clove. It is weighty and mature with dusty tannins. This wine is drinkable now and will continue to mature and evolve in the bottle for many years. Liz suggests pairing this wine with venison or duck with a cherry red wine reduction sauce.
